Cigar Pen Kits

A large and impressive pen, the Cigar ballpoint pen has a rugged look complemented by a nut shaped end finial and black accent bands.

It is available in a range of plating options which ensures the perfect match is available for any timber or resin chosen.

Tips:      While an easy pen to make, the Cigar is also an easy pen to get wrong! 

Both tubes are the same diameter but are different lengths, and the four bushings are all different diameters.  This means that it is essential to check and recheck your set up on the mandrel to ensure that the barrels and bushes are in the correct location.

I always set-up the same way with every pen I make, ie. nib at the tailstock end of the mandrel and the clip end nearest the headstock.  I mark the bushings of the Cigar with lines using a hacksaw, 1 line for the clip bushing, 2 lines for the centreband bushing of the upper barrel, 3 lines for the centreband bushing of the lower barrel.  If I then put the short (upper) barrel on the mandrel first, and have followed my sequence with the bushings, even I can't mess it up!! 

Use a 10mm bit to drill the blanks.  Suggested blank size is 20mm square by 120 mm long.  The refill used is a Parker® style.  The refill is supplied with the kit.
